Hello, I am Lucia

Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.

A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.

How It Started

Moving to Spain wasn't in the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.

The first few months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complex than they should.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.

Why I Built LilacGridView

Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family viewpoint.

This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Spain.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site IS:

  • Hands-on insights from life in Spain
  • Centered on family living and daily realities
  • Updated whenever a meaningful change occurs

This site ISN'T:

  • Not a tourism official resource
  • Not a paid-review platform
  • Not a generic travel diary

Looking Ahead

We’ll keep our stay in Spain going, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains helpful, I will keep recording what we discover.

If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, feel free to reach out.

Best regards,

Lucia
